Crafting Showcases For Cartier Singapore

Celebrating the ingenuity and artistic creativity of Jeanne Toussaint.

The main themed exhibition to launch Cartier’s main flagship store in ION Orchard was launched with a series of heavily secured, customized display showcases specifically designed and fabricated by Trika to house and display the luxurious collection of Cartier’s former Creative Director (Jeanne Toussaint, 1933 ~ 1970).

Jeanne Toussaint (1887–1976) was a Belgian-born French jeweller and fashion designer who exerted considerable influence on jewellery design after Louis Cartier appointed her as Director of Fine Jewellery in 1933. She is particularly remembered for her panther designs which first appeared as a decoration for a Cartier watch in 1914 and became the theme of several creations for the Duchess of Windsor, including an onyx bracelet in 1952

Showcase standards matching the exquisite style of Cartier, Loic Serot’s display quality and Jean Toussaint’s finest collection.

The Cartier’s showcase technical brief, issued by their house designer, Loic Serot, specified for custom task lighting as well as backdrop theatre stage lighting and a set of special filter micro-lighting. Cartier’s showcase specifications reflect Trika’s history of international museum showcasing expertise where artifacts are secured within a complement of fine crafted finishes and concealed precision opening devices.

So important was this rare collection from the former chief designer of Cartier that the security detail was extremely high.

Trika managed to incorporate various security features that included embedded alarm sensors and double-locking security ABLOY locks. As Trika’s responsibility as a casemaker for Cartier, the cases included a series of Elgin Casefronts’ cases that were embedded into partition walls whilst the extremely robust Ramses HD cases were securely bolted in-situ.

As an international casemaker, this was a most enjoyable collaboration that highlights Trika’s experience working with a renown international jeweller across demanding technical challenges.
