Design
Design is central to our business. What distinguishes us is how we set about applying original ideas, research and testing to deliver the highest level of performance in all our products.

Glass
Glass is the basic element of a showcase and forms an invisible protective barrier between the exhibit and visitors. It is the single and largest material component in the construction of display cases. To ensure safety, security and UV/IR filtration, Trka recognises that international museums only accept and approve glass that complies to European standards such as BS5544 / EN356.
Internal Showcase Lighting
Lighting is critical to the overall display experience. The right lighting sets the mood and creates drama for reality and illusion. Museum or gallery lighting has to satisfy two main criteria that are often in conflict. On one hand, it must deliver all the lighting effects for the exhibits. Conversely, it must also be carefully controlled to minimise the risks of damage to light-sensitive materials. Our in-house lighting designer will assist in providing data and hands-on access to equipment, including a test-rig facility where set-ups can be simulated to our customer’s satisfaction.
Inert Materials
Inert case materials are a prerequisite in all museums. For exhibits sealed within cases for many years, it is vital that the case environment is free of pollutants that can react with and damage exhibits on display. Over the years, we have identified and ODDY tested a range of materials including adhesives, seals, fabrics and sheet materials, which have been approved for permanent use within cases. We are constantly identifying and testing new materials to improve performance and satisfy any challenges posed by environmental changes. Simply ask for our test certifications whenever you specify our cases.
Plinths
Display cases can be designed to sit within the set-works, on an open platform, table or base structure. Some can be invisibly secured as a cantilever out of a wall, a shelf or within a wall niche. Our design engineers can assist in the design and fabrication of these structural base plinths to suit cases or any gallery space. Colours, material finishes, object labelling and graphics can also be worked into your overall design.
